If I had to wager, I’d bet that most small businesses agonize that their websites don’t really work for them. Lackluster performance and not showing up in search engine results (SERPs) … what I fondly call Website Woes.
A lot of small businesses have websites that they’ve either created on their own, or even enlisted the help of someone with design experience. But without doing some keyword research and using keywords strategically in page titles, page descriptions and content, the search engines have a hard time indexing the site to deliver it in search results.

Woe: Your website is informative and looks nice, but no one can find you online.
Fix: Most likely, Google can’t find your site due to lack of SEO and keywords.
Woe: You don’t know if anyone is really looking at your web site, or if you’re getting any business from it.
Fix: Google tracking code is needed on your website to track visitors and how they find you. The code is free.
Woe: You created your website some time ago and haven’t really updated it much.
Fix: Google relies on frequent web site updates to keep it “fresh in their mind.”
Woe: You don’t have a website.
Fix: Uh-oh. Time to get one.
How do you know if your site is optimized? If you’re not sure, then it probably isn’t. But there’s hope! Every business has the capability to up-level their website’s optimization and traffic.
